Conejo Valley Days
Conejo Valley Days is a 55-year-old carnival, rodeo and motocross mix that raises funds for many local charities. I was given the goal of revitalizing and re-branding the event. I wanted to bring the action into the forefront, and did so through strategic cropping of black and white images against full-color, textured backgrounds. I created textured backgrounds, over-sharpened the photos for a gritty, dirty feel,and used wood type font styles typical of Western motifs. I floated text next to the existing CVD hat icon to refresh the look and create a cohesive and versatile logo.
The result is a series of visually distinct ads that are exciting and a bit gritty.
Posters were displayed in shopping malls and storefronts, and print ads were placed in various local publications.
I also updated and maintainted the event's template-based web site to reflect the new look, and handled the ad placement.
More than 45,000 attended the 4-day event from May 4-8, 2011 in Thousand Oaks, California.
